1. About This Game
The Three Kingdoms are still at war—and now the Abyss has arrived.
In the final days of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Jiao sacrifices countless souls to open the gates of the Abyss. Monstrous forces pour into the human world, overwhelming cities and consuming everything in their path. Former rivals must now stand together. Lead the heroes of the Three Kingdoms on a campaign to reclaim the fallen cities and seal the Abyss once and for all.
Chaos Era Chess Player is a roguelite strategy game combining hero collection, auto-battles, tactical formations, and team building.
Begin each run with a limited selection of heroes and resources. Explore randomly generated maps, fight enemies, purchase equipment, trigger events, and gradually build a powerful team. Every decision shapes the battles ahead—and every defeat provides knowledge for your next campaign.
Plan Your Formation, Control the Battle
Before each fight, arrange your heroes, determine their positions, and prepare for the enemy’s attack order. Front rows, back rows, columns, rows, and surrounding positions all affect how abilities work.
Once battle begins, heroes act automatically based on their Rage and abilities. Your most important decisions are made before combat: adjust your formation, predict enemy attacks, and prepare for the critical turns ahead.
Combine Heroes and Build Your Own Strategy
Collect legendary heroes from the Three Kingdoms. Combine three heroes of the same name and level to create a stronger version. Equip them with weapons, armor, treasures, and Seals to activate powerful class synergies.
Choose from a variety of strategies:
Martial Critical Strike: Use Lü Bu, Guan Yu, and Ma Chao to break through enemies with devastating attacks.
Intelligence Skills: Unleash powerful area attacks with heroes such as Zhang Jiao, Zhuge Liang, and Guo Jia.
Rage Cycling: Generate Rage quickly and create a chain of repeated skill activations.
Shield and Counterattack: Survive through defense and shields while punishing enemies for attacking.
Burn Damage: Stack Burn effects and slowly destroy enemies in prolonged battles.
Control Lockdown: Use Stun, Freeze, Silence, and Rage disruption to control the battlefield.
Mechanical Beasts: Develop mechanical summons and use them to expand your formation and absorb damage.
Every strategy has strengths and weaknesses. Adapt your team according to the heroes, equipment, and enemies you encounter during each run.
Explore a Random Map and Manage Limited Resources
Every campaign presents different routes and reward choices. You may encounter normal battles, elite enemies, treasure chests, shops, events, camps, and altars.
Gold, population, hero slots, and equipment space are all limited. Should you recruit another hero, purchase a key piece of equipment, upgrade your existing team, or save your resources for the final boss? Every choice can determine how far your campaign will go.
Face Bosses with Unique Mechanics
Five cities have fallen under the influence of the Abyss. Each city ends with a powerful boss who can use different battle mechanics and change the rules of combat during the fight.
Avoid the Rift Commander’s attack zones. Defeat the undead surrounding the Lich King. Stop the Abyssal Insect Emperor from multiplying its swarm. Break through the Dark Pope’s judgment. And defeat the Abyssal Demon before its final descent begins.
Victory is not determined by numbers alone. You must find the right formation, strategy, and countermeasures for each encounter.
Challenge Higher Difficulties
After completing a campaign, continue your journey at higher difficulty levels. Face stronger enemies, harsher economic conditions, and more dangerous boss mechanics.
Experiment with new combinations of heroes, equipment, treasures, Seals, and class synergies. Learn from every defeat, refine your strategy, and lead the united armies of the Three Kingdoms to end the Abyssal disaster.
