WANDERSTATE

You find yourself alone in a place that feels familiar… but not quite right. Wander aimlessly or with purpose, it won’t matter. Is there an end? Has anyone been here before you? Time feels slow. Or maybe it's frozen. Or maybe… you’re not meant to leave.

About the Game

WANDERSTATE is a first-person indie psychological horror experience inspired by the Backrooms and liminal space aesthetics.
There are no monsters chasing you. No jumpscares screaming in your face. This is a horror game rooted in unease, loneliness, isolation and the fear of the unknown.

Reality-Bending Environments

  • Explore unsettling, surreal spaces where logic breaks down. Hallways loop back on themselves. Rooms shift when you're not looking. Walls breathe, floors whisper.

No Entities, Just Atmosphere

  • There are no creatures lurking in the dark. Instead, you’re left alone with your thoughts and a world that doesn’t quite make sense. It’s the creeping fear that something might happen, even though nothing ever does… or maybe already did.

  • What you face isn’t a monster, but your own unease—the fear of not knowing what’s real anymore

  • The horror here is ambient, the slow unraveling of comfort and logic. You’ll start to question your surroundings, your choices, even your memory.
    Was that wall always there?
    Have you been here before?

Immersive, Minimal Interface

  • No HUD. No guidance. The entire experience is designed to pull you in and never let go, letting you explore at your own pace and interpret the space in your own way.

A NOTE FROM THE DEVELOPER

I created WANDERSTATE to explore a quieter kind of horror: the kind that doesn’t scream, but whispers. The kind that doesn’t jump out at you, but waits. This game is for those who love atmosphere, tension, and the feeling that something is deeply wrong, even if you can’t explain what it is.

CONTENT WARNING

This game contains audio/visual effects that may be disturbing to some players, including spatial distortion, liminal imagery, and psychological unease.

There are no gore, violence, or jumpscares, but the atmosphere is intentionally unsettling.
