About the Game

  • About the Experience

Voyage to Varksa is a turn-based RPG for PC that aims to replicate and pay homage to the experience of playing a tabletop RPG with friends, with all the ups and downs that come with it. The game is built around the experience of playing a tabletop RPG among friends.

It tells the story of five characters who are playing this game together, with one dungeon master and 4 players who created their own avatar to take part in the RPG. While, for them, it’s just a casual game, the player sees everything from within the fantasy world itself. In other words, the player never sees the “real world” or the “real” characters, only the imagined fantasy world they’ve created, along with the fictional avatars each character has designed.

This creates two intertwined narratives: one in the “real world,” where the protagonists are simply playing the game with one another, and one in the realm of make-believe, the fantasy adventure where their avatars are on a quest to find the lost city of Varksa. While the game is, at its core, a parody of the tabletop RPG experience (which is naturally laid-back and often humorous), the characters also explore real-life issues through their gameplay. As the story unfolds, we witness how these two narratives, the real world and the fantasy game, can influence each other, and at times even blend together.

  • Gameplay and Features

The player will be able to explore the world and interact with a vast cast of  characters, to progress on the quest to find Varksa.

The core gameplay mechanic is based on the use of non-traditional six-sided dice, which players can customize by combining different elements. This allows for a wide variety of strategies and unique ways to approach the game. Players allocate each die to a specific function, such as attack accuracy, attack damage, skill accuracy, or the effect/damage/healing of abilities. Outside of combat, players have the chance to plan their strategy and assign their dice accordingly. During battles, they must make tactical decisions each turn to secure victory.

The player will be able to buy and swap equipments to improve the caracters stats and improve their combat capabilities
