About the Game

Veil of Madness

— Investigate a mad dream woven from trauma, and unveil the truth through card battles against inner demons!

From the creators of the CONARIUM, TRANSIENT, and DARKNESS WITHIN series comes an all-new work — Veil of Madness, an eerie dungeon-crawling deckbuilder. In the game, you play as a doctor who ventures into a patient’s inner world, only to discover that her coma is not an illness at all, but perhaps a shocking evolution — or a mutation?

Collect unique cards along the way and upgrade them to boost their stats. Some cards are hidden in secret areas, while others can only be obtained by completing specific quests — so keep a close eye on the NPCs you meet.

You will encounter all manner of creatures, sometimes facing several enemies at once. Use the items at your disposal wisely if you want to survive this journey.

In the face of these creatures, ‘discarding’ is a lie — you are merely choosing who will hold and corrupt your thoughts instead.

(Cards you discard are added to your enemies’ hands. They feed on your ‘intrusive thoughts’!)

LOG 001

Research Subject: Sophia Reed (Day ██ of coma)

Status: First deep connection with the “Revealer”

The “Revealer” connection succeeded. I saw the patient’s dream. It’s astonishing! This is an unspeakable labyrinth of consciousness.

A moment ago I was in a mansion, and now I’ve arrived at a space station! The corridors echo with the cries of a baby. I tried recording the surroundings with a voice recorder, but on playback, all I heard was my own breathing. I could feel something watching me.

Suspected trauma type: Existential loss · Maternal grief

LOG 002

Status: Mental stamina declining

Her second dream layer is an endless trench, the air thick with the smell of scorched metal and rust... or is it blood?

The monsters spawned within Sophia’s dream absorb and corrupt my intrusive thoughts. I need to stay calm and think carefully about how to deal with them.

As I pressed deeper, I encountered Sophia’s “father.” Wait — is that a UFO and... an alien???

Suspected trauma type: War trauma · Delusions

LOG 003

Status: Perceptual defense mechanism triggered

Sophia’s perceptual defense mechanism has activated. I’m trapped in a circus.

I just encountered a “puppet” trying to kill the “puppeteer.” Something’s wrong — something is trying to excise her humanity...

Monsters from her subconscious are everywhere!

Suspected trauma type: Dissociation · Loss of self-will

Some logs are detected as missing...

LOG 007

Status: User–host consciousness fusion

The “Revealer’s” readings have become unstable.

I’m no longer just an observer. Sophia’s dream is turning against me... and the rest of the institute!

If I don’t sever the connection soon—

Suspected ██ type: *&*)&…#—!

LOG [REDACTED]

Bzzzt... I can’t let these ██ inside her head get out!

External ██ detected

Warning: Link extremely █stable!!!

I... bzzt... can... get... out!
