About the Game

Variator is a new 2.5D shoot 'em up that's all about blowing up enemies and grazing bullets!

It's designed to be playable both as a fun blaster and as an advanced high-scoring game, with approachable difficulty and scoring mechanics that are easy to understand yet reveal more depth the more you play.

Game Mechanics

  • Energy Burst - max out your energy level by destroying enemies and getting close to enemy bullets, become invincible for a brief time!

  • Reaction - press Fire just before your energy level reaches MAX, get longer invincibility, extra points, and even extra lives!

  • Variables - many areas and powerful enemies can affect the physical variables of this world, dynamically changing the battlefield!

Game Modes

  • Arcade Mode - play 8 levels in a single run, choosing your path along the way, then upload your score to the online leaderboards

  • Campaign Mode - play all 14 levels, progress is saved after each level, and levels gain special objectives and bonuses

  • Score Attack - play a specific level and compete with other players on the online leaderboards

  • Boss Rush - fight a crushing 11 bosses in a row, then submit your score to the online leaderboards

  • Custom Levels - play custom levels of your own creation, and explore all new combinations of enemies, bosses and variables

  • Training - play a specific level with additional settings such as skipping to a specific second in time, skipping to the boss, slow motion, etc
