About the Game

Until the Fire Dies is a first-person survival horror game about preparing before sunset and surviving beside a dying fire until dawn.

By day, fell trees, process the fallen trunks, gather stone, build the structures you need, and stack enough firewood to survive the coming night.

When darkness falls, horrors gather beyond the light. As the flames weaken, the protection surrounding you begins to disappear and the forest closes in.

Every log buys you time. Every step beyond the light is a risk.

Daylight is your only chance to prepare.

Chop down trees, cut the fallen trunks into manageable logs, gather stone, and construct a chopping stump and campfire before darkness takes over the forest.

Every minute spent exploring is a minute not spent preparing.

When night arrives, you must survive with whatever you managed to collect.

Wood is not just a number hidden inside a menu.

Place collected logs onto the chopping stump and split them into individual pieces of firewood. Pick up each piece, rotate it, carry it, throw it, or carefully stack it beside the campfire.

The pile you build during daylight becomes the time you have left after dark.

Poor preparation can leave you searching for fuel while the flames disappear.

The campfire is the center of your survival.

Its light holds the horrors back and creates the only safe ground in the forest. Feed it throughout the night as its flames and protection slowly weaken.

Wait too long, and the safe space surrounding you begins to shrink.

Let the fire die, and there will be nothing left between you and whatever is waiting in the darkness.

LEAVE THE FIRE. RISK EVERYTHING.

Your axe can defend you, but fighting is never the safest option.

Enemies hit hard, and every step beyond the firelight leaves you exposed. You may need to leave safety to explore the forest, recover resources, or reduce the pressure surrounding the flames.

The farther you travel from the fire, the greater the risk that you will not make it back.

THE CURSE

Survive the nights and explore the wider forest in search of four ancient cursed trees feeding the horrors.

Destroy them all to break the curse and end the nightmare.

ENDLESS SURVIVAL

There is no final night.

Prepare during the day, protect the fire after dark, and survive increasingly dangerous nights for as long as possible.

Each dawn gives you another chance to prepare.

Each night brings greater pressure.

The forest will eventually overwhelm you.

The only question is how long you can keep the fire burning.
