About the Game

To Build a Home is a 2D life simulation game. Inspired by life simulators like The Sims and roguelite colony management games like Dwarf Fortress, it is a deep simulation of human life.

Rent a house, build a home

Move into a new house, with all your belongings in boxes, and a ticking clock until the day the rent is due. Real life has its quests too!

Kinda smart characters

Characters and NPCs can survive on their own, spend their time and manage their needs. But they aren't perfect at it, because where is the fun in that? They may focus on their duties without taking care of their mood, or leave their duties aside in search of instant gratification. You can choose to command them and make their lifes better. Or make them even worse!

Easy to mod

All graphical assets are open inside the gamefiles, you can open them with your favourite image editor and change everything you like. If you have some programming knowledge, you can dig into the .lua files and create your own locations, actions, dialogues, etc.
