About the Game

Have you ever wanted to experience hallucinations without the use of mind altering substances, uncomfortable fasting, or costly and time consuming vision quest? Now you can!

The Theater of the Mind is a VR application designed to allow users to experience the Gainsfeld effect. Whats the Gainsfeld Effect? When you are exposed to completely even stimulus, the brain begins to make things up, resulting in hallucinations.

To achieve this, the user is presented with a solid color field and white noise. After about ten minutes, most people will begin to experience mild hallucinations, such as mandala patterns or spinning circles. During longer experiences, these hallucinations can become more vivid, resolving into figures, changing colors, and a dreamlike state where time becomes condensed.

To use the app, simply select your preferred color on the console, set the in game timer for how long you would like your experience to be, and weather or not you would like to use the provided white noise source, or your own. Than simply sit back, relax, and let your mind drift. Note that 10 minutes is generally the minimum time required to experience any effect at all, so be patient! The effect is best experienced with headphones, a comfy chair or bed, and a calm state of mind. Enjoy!
