THE STORY
Providence, 1935.
When the young writer Robert Blake notices a blackened church looming above Federal Hill, fascination slowly overcomes caution. The grim structure seems older than its surroundings; an austere relic from an early phase of Gothic revival.
Blake eventually leaves the safety of his study to traverse the labyrinthine streets in an attempt to visit the church and satisfy his curiosity.
The Steeple is a faithful adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s classic short story The Haunter of the Dark. The depiction of 1930s Providence is stylized but aims for historical accuracy. At each turn, care has been taken to stay true to not just the spirit, but also the letter of Lovecraft's story.
