About the Game

Red Mountain is a first-person psychological narrative puzzle game set in an isolated mountain sanatorium where time seems to stand still. Players investigate medical records, explore restricted areas, collect forgotten relics, and uncover the secrets hidden among the patients and doctors. As the investigation deepens, the boundaries between reality and hallucination, illness and desire, life and death begin to blur. The inhabitants of the sanatorium are trapped in endless routines, consumed by isolation, mental decay, and an obsession with death. Strange encounters, fragmented memories, and unsettling discoveries gradually reveal that the institution may hide something far more disturbing than disease itself. Every corridor, abandoned room, and personal belonging tells part of a larger mystery waiting to be uncovered. Inspired by philosophical themes of time, mortality, and psychological isolation, Red Mountain challenges players to question not only the truth behind the sanatorium, but also the nature of the human mind. Through exploration and narrative-driven gameplay, players are drawn into a haunting world where reality becomes uncertain and escape may be impossible. In the end, one question remains: is the sanatorium truly a prison, or are people forever trapped within the emptiness of their own inner world?

Game Introduction

This game utilizes the DDA raycasting technique paired with low-resolution pixel art. It renders visuals frame by frame by calculating height based on distance. Combining retro 90s aesthetics with modern survival horror gameplay, it pays tribute to the ingenuity of veteran game developers.

Story Introduction

Inspired by The Magic Mountain, the classic work by Thomas Mann, the story follows the player who stumbles upon the secluded Red Hill Sanatorium. Amid a string of eerie encounters, you will confront the essence of life and death, and delve into profound reflections on reason and madness.
