About the Game

The Life You Missed is an atmospheric narrative game.

You arrive at a new property to renovate and sell an old house. Just another deal. But leaving this place isn’t so easy.

With each passing day, the house reveals a stranger’s life—through notes, photographs, and forgotten moments. Gradually, you begin to recognize yourself in them. A ginger cat, like a guide, appears by your side at the most important moments. During the day, you explore the house and its surroundings: the workshop, the grounds, the forest, and the lake. Each area is a separate layer of the story that unfolds through details. You examine objects, find the previous owner’s notes—his thoughts, memories, and observations. You compare his life to your own, noticing differences in how simple things are perceived.

You find old photographs and recreate scenes from the past, repeating the actions captured in them. Sit on a swing, walk out to the lake, stop at the right spot, watch the sunset. After that, the moments come to life—and you see how everything actually happened. You can record the protagonist’s thoughts on a voice recorder—his reactions, doubts, and attempts to make sense of what’s happening. You can return to these recordings later.

At night, the protagonist has dreams. These are pivotal moments in his life where you’ll have to make a choice. No hints. No right answers. Every decision reflects who you’ve become. And it’s these choices that determine the ending.
