The Great Serpent Beholds

A first-person mythological RPG of vengeance, prophecy, and the cold weight of fate. Sigurd and Arnthor, sons of a fallen chief, sail home to settle a blood debt — but the Norns have already woven a darker thread, and beneath the stone of the old country, the Great Serpent is shedding his skin.

About the Game

The chief is dead. The pyre is lit. The oath is already sworn.

The Great Serpent Beholds is a first-person mythological RPG. The dark seam where Norse and Slavic myth bleed into each other — a saga of vengeance, kinship, and the buried voices that refuse to stay silent.

At the funeral of the warlord Grimnir, his sons Sigurd and Arnthor reject the elder Farlaf's counsel of harvest and peace.

Features

  • First-person combat with sword, spear, axe, archery and shield — close, heavy, and meant to be felt

  • A homeland to walk back into: drowned shorelines, ancestral barrows, river-cut valleys, and the cave-paths beneath the world

  • A branching saga, the brothers' road do not lead to the same ending

  • Speak with the dead. The mounds of your forebears have things to say to anyone willing to listen at the right hour

  • A mythology older than either tradition it draws from — gods, Norns, einherjar, and serpents braided into something its own

  • Skaldic-cadence writing, bone-flute, and choral verse

Will you be the warrior the funeral fire demanded? Or will you hear what is still crawling, slow and patient, out of the mountain?
