About the Game

Rule the vampire court that holds the city in its grip.

The Darker Night: Regent City is a political strategy and vampire regency simulation about ruling a gothic city from the shadows. Balance five factions, claim and manage buildings as holdings, shape your court, and decide which vampires deserve power. Every ruling can create consequences that return later — to you, to your court, or to the next Regent who inherits what you leave behind.

This is not a road-drawing sandbox. It is a strategy game about power, place, succession, and consequence.

Shape the Court

The city is contested by five rival powers, each with its own demands, loyalties, and pressure on your reign. Favor one faction too often and the others will remember. Keep them balanced — or choose who you are willing to anger.

Characters are not interchangeable bonuses. They carry talents, loyalties, ambitions, and grudges into your court. Turn new vampires, assign them to holdings, lean on their strengths, and decide who deserves to survive the reign.

When a Regent falls, the bloodline continues.

Every building is a real holding

The city board is not scenery. Clubs, markets, occult sites, shelters, and civic landmarks are all playable locations. Claim blood sources, assign managers, inspect local matters, and decide which places are worth protecting.

Your empire is built from specific buildings, not abstract tiles.

Your Court does not forget

Ministries pressure you. Characters argue from their own loyalties. A single ruling can open a story thread that returns nights later.

Choose who gains power.

Choose who pays the cost.

Then live with what the city remembers.

Emergent stories through consequences

Investigations can fail. Factions can retaliate. Promises can rot into curses.

Regent City is built around emergent stories through consequences: the things you do create persistent threads, and those threads can return when the timing is worst.
