About the Game

You are Gabrielle, an archaeologist visiting Japan, when you receive a mysterious phone call. A man offers you the opportunity to assess Yokogawa Castle and determine whether it should be preserved or condemned. Before he even finishes speaking, you’ve already agreed. It has to happen today.

During your research, you learn hitobashira was practiced there - human sacrifices buried within the walls to protect the castle. Some rituals were never meant to end.

  • Assess the castle for structural integrity, materials, and condition.

  • Perform rituals while something is hunting you.

  • Release trapped souls from the castle's past.

  • Recover artifacts from those that were buried.

  • Experience Gabrielle's most painful memories, corrupted by the castle's spirits.

  • Dynamic haunting ensures ghostly encounters are unpredictable.

  • Switch between third and first-person views at any time.

The Assessment is a short-form experience that is focused on suspense, exploration, and discovery. Many of its themes and fears are drawn from my own personal experiences.
