About the Game

The Antarctic Sphere is a narrative game in which you play as an archaeologist specializing in ancient languages whose quest is to decipher an unknown language in order to communicate with a mysterious sphere.

THE STORY

It all begins when a giant sphere, made of an unknown material, is found under the ice of the South Pole. No one knows what it is or where it came from. No one knows its purpose.
As you are studying it, the sphere starts to change and absorbs you.

Inside the sphere, alone, you will have to discover the story of the sphere and unravel its mysteries.

Where does this strange sphere come from? What is its story? Is it alive? How long has it been on Earth? Why does it communicate with you?

HOW YOU PLAY

A fictional language has been created specifically for the game, and it is up to you to decipher it
  • The language is composed of a number of unique glyphs
  • Study the glyphs, their design and the way they are used by the sphere, in order to translate their meaning
  • A unique conversational system allows you to use the glyphs you have translated to form real sentences to communicate with the sphere
  • Your only companion is a diary in which your character takes notes, and reveals his story and thoughts. What you will discover depend entirely on how you play the game

IS THE GAME FOR YOU?

It is in our mutual interest that you know if the game is right for you.

Here is what you can expect when playing The Antarctic Sphere:
  • The game’s narrative will be, by design, extremely non-linear. It will be sparse. It will require you to make theories, to get involved. It will not be a handful of long indigestible texts. It will be made of cryptic answers made by a non-human entity (the sphere), and cautious thoughts made by the linguist and archaeologist you play.
  • Because the game will include LOTS of small narrative puzzle pieces, each player will most likely have a different game experience and a different view of the story. It’s a fractal story. You’re not supposed to discover it all. That’s actually almost impossible. You will most likely have ‘holes' in your understanding of the story. Thats where your imagination will fill in the gaps. Where does this strange sphere come from? What is its story? Is it alive? How long has it been on Earth? Why does it communicate with you? There are answers, but do not expect the game to take you by the hand and explain everything.
  • The game will be calm, mysterious, ambiant, count a lot on its atmosphere, and will be hopefully very chill.
  • If that sounds like the kind of games you could enjoy, then don't hesitate to wishlist the game to be notified when it will be released.
