About the Game

You start with a single ship and a handful of credits. Everything after that is yours to decide. Get rich hauling cargo between star ports, carve out a mining fortune, colonize worlds and grow an empire that pays out while you are away, or shoot your way to the top of a galaxy at war. SpaceWars 3033 is an open galaxy space sim where a fresh universe generates every campaign and nobody is waiting to hand you a quest.

Explore a galaxy that is different every time

Jump gate to jump gate, chart a procedurally generated universe of star systems, star ports, asteroid belts, drifting wreckage, and worlds waiting to be claimed. Federation policed core space keeps the peace near the homeworlds. Push outward and law gives way to pirates and rival powers. Roaming traffic, distress calls, and faction raids keep the galaxy moving whether you are watching or not.

Trade, mine, and get rich

Prices shift from station to station, so the buy low sell high hustle is always on. Strip mine asteroid fields for minerals to sell, refine, or feed into your colonies. Salvage the wreckage of the fallen and tow it home with your tractor beam.

Claim worlds and build an empire

Colonize planets, land colonists, and put them to work as farmers, scientists, or miners. Raise your Citadel as the seat of your power, then bank your fortune in a vault that survives even your own death. Fortify what you build with defense stations, orbital cannons, and planetary shields, because a fat colony always draws raiders. When they come, your colony sends a subspace distress call, and you had better jump in to defend it or lose everything.

Command your ship in real time combat

Buy and swap between fifteen distinct ship hulls at star port shipyards, from nimble scouts to armored gunships, each with its own stats, hardpoints, and price. Fit your loadout with lasers, beam weapons, missile launchers, mining lasers, and shields. Fight in real time with directional shields, engine boosters, and a tractor beam for salvage. Live with the stakes, because getting destroyed costs you cargo and credits, so pick your battles and dock to repair before the next one.

Choose your people

Your race changes how the same hull flies and who trusts you at the docks.

  • Terrans are the Federation's dependable generalists. Balanced hulls, faster shield recovery, a deeper starting treasury, and standing with the navy that polices civilized space.

  • Volomites fly ships that are grown, not built. Swift, agile, and eerily self mending, but thin hulled and cramped for cargo. Win through speed and numbers, never by standing your ground.

  • Centauri are warlike and armored, bred for battle. Heavy hulls that shrug off punishment and harder hitting guns, at the cost of speed, shields, and cargo space.

Play together in online co-op

Host a game and invite a friend into the same seeded universe over Steam or direct IP. Fly side by side with name tags and health bars, mine the same asteroid fields, and take on the same enemy fleets together in host authoritative combat. Or turn your guns on each other. The galaxy is big enough for allies and rivals alike.

A love letter to TradeWars 2002

SpaceWars 3033 is a spiritual successor to the beloved BBS door game TradeWars 2002, rebuilding the loop that made it impossible to quit, explore, trade, colonize, defend, dominate, as a real time, fully graphical space sim you can actually see. Deep enough for the veterans, welcoming enough for anyone who never got to play the original.
