CHARACTER
"I'm the Red Dragon Maiden, and I’m gonna become the king of the continent!"
Self-proclaimed "Red Dragon Maiden."
An energetic girl who wishes to become the "king of the continent" for reasons as mundane as getting to eat good food, wear good clothes, live in luxury… and be freer than anyone else.
Just as she is leaving her job as a strict government official to become a bandit chief, Sima Qian falls from the sky before her, and she chooses to stand up for the sake of the world, its people, and herself.
With nothing but her determination to become the king, she treats the dreaded Xiang Yu as if she were an equal and even becomes sworn sisters with her.
Both her skill in battle and her resourcefulness are average, but many officers follow her, drawn to her all-consuming courage and character. She even accepts Sima Qian—whose true identity is hidden—as a comrade.
"I, Xiang Yu, shall be the one to become the Heavenly Flower!"
The Vicious King of Chu, who shows her enemies no quarter.
On the battlefield, she stands on the front line and cuts down her foes, whipping her entire army into a frenzy that fills enemies with dread.
Since none can compare to her, she tends to see things through a lens of "Xiang Yu versus the rest," but she is fond of Liu Bang, the one person who would attempt to be her equal.
At first, she sees Sima Qian as little more than one of Liu Bang's underlings, but she becomes aware of his strong sense of duty and comes to appreciate the way he speaks up to her in spite of his fear.
"I want a future... where everyone can be happy!"
An apprentice Keeper of Alternate Histories, studying under his master, Taiyi Zhenren.
One day, he sees a vision of ruin and sets out for the realm of mortals to save an alternate history in place of his sick master.
Hiding his true identity, he is initially welcomed into the Liu Bang army as the "Symbol of Heaven" to guide the Red Dragon. While he originally intends to act in the interests of his duties as Keeper of Alternate Histories in his dealings with the heroines, after spending time with them he resolves to correct history to save the people he cares about from destruction.
Despite his delicate nature, he acts quickly once his mind is made up. He has a penchant for helping others and often takes on more than necessary.
STORY
The First Emperor—the man who united the whole of China for the first time—is dead. Around the country, rival factions battle for the right to succeed him.
"Kings and nobles are not produced by birth!"
Those words spur not only patriotic warriors with high-minded ideals but also the avaricious and ambitious into action.
Meanwhile, in the celestial realm, Sima Qian—the apprentice Keeper of Alternate Histories—has a dream.
He sees the world of men in turmoil, collapsing as a black wave swallows it up.
Unable to stand by and watch an alternate history fall amid such chaos, Sima Qian breaks the law of the celestial realm to venture into the human world alone.
And in that world of men, two dazzling stars appear.
These stars are... Xiang Yu and Liu Bang!
