About the Game

Souls on the Line is a tactical roguelike deckbuilder where summoned allies serve as both your weapons and your shields. Build synergies, command your Souls, and see the consequences before you end your turn.

YOUR LIFE IS ON THE LINE

You stole a powerful Artifact from Beckford Academy, the kingdom’s elite school of magic, where you once studied and taught.

The Artifact can give ordinary people powerful, uncanny abilities. Beckford planned to demonstrate it on fifty soldiers, but you believe the process will carry a terrible, hidden cost. You stole the Artifact before the demonstration.

Now your former students, colleagues, and other agents of the kingdom are hunting you to take it back.

To escape, build your deck around mystical allies called Souls and fight through the forces closing in around you. Each attempt reveals new tactical possibilities and another piece of the catastrophe taking shape.

DRAFT SOULS

Recruit Souls with distinct strengths and limitations. Build your deck around the allies you find, then combine their abilities with spells, commands, and relics. Adapt your strategy to the enemies ahead.

SUMMON YOUR RANKS

Play Soul cards to summon allies into formation. Their positions determine the order of combat, who they protect, and how their abilities interact.

Build a line that can withstand the enemy’s assault and strike back with the strength of every Soul.

KNOW THE CONSEQUENCES

The battlefield shows exactly what will happen if you end your turn now, accounting for every attack, triggered effect, heal, and death.

Play a card and the forecast changes instantly. Save a doomed ally or prepare a cascade of damage to release on your enemies.

PIECE TOGETHER THE TRUTH

The full game will gradually reveal the history of the Artifact through the enemies, fragments of dialogue, card text, visual details, and random encounters. Multiple endings will ask what should be done with the power in your possession.

FIGHT IN HARMONY

The original score shifts as each battle unfolds. Many of the enemies you face bring their own musical themes.
