About the Game

Welcome to your first day of life on the rig. Thorne Industrial Mining Corporation, a company founded in 1909 and now the sole proprietor of Cirrus-7b, has tasked you with overseeing construction of a gas-mining platform in the planet's volatile atmosphere.

Cirrus-7b, a massive, storm-choked gas giant in a remote sector of space, has remained untouched. Your job, Commander, is to transform the planet from an untapped resource into a fully fledged mining operation.

Build and expand the Orbital Hub, develop new technologies, and construct increasingly advanced rigs capable of surviving the planet’s crushing pressure. This isn't just exploration. It is the frontier of chemistry, engineering, and survival. You’re not just collecting resources; you’re rewriting the periodic table.

Cirrus-7b is unstable. The risks are extreme. But so are the rewards. Welcome to Thorne Industrial, Commander! Remember: Profit Through Persistence.

Design and build fully modular floating rigs from a wide selection of components including heat shields, pressure chambers, balloon arrays, chemical processors, and more. Placement is fully three-dimensional, allowing for complex configurations that respond to the planet’s volatile atmosphere. As the environment becomes more dangerous - storms, extreme temperatures, and crushing pressure - you’ll need to adapt, upgrade, and optimize your rigs to help them function.

From the upper cloudline to the volatile depths, the atmosphere is constantly shifting and increasingly hostile. As you descend, you’ll face lightning storms, equipment failures, structural stress, and critical shortages. Advancing to the next atmospheric layer means not just surviving, it means building smarter, researching new tech, and deploying rigs with precision and purpose. Late-game zones offer rare materials and complex contracts for the more daring Thorne Industrial Commander who is willing to take calculated risks.

Extract raw gases from the atmosphere, test your hypothesis, and discover new compounds as you play. Each atmospheric sector presents a unique mix of elements, requiring strategic synthesis and efficient processing to progress. Every successful reaction pushes you closer to unlocking the secrets of a hidden, ever-expanding periodic table.

Beginning with a small orbital platform, you’ll expand into a thriving research and trade hub. Fulfil contracts and complete missions in order to unlock technologies that allow for deeper exploration, greater efficiency, and more advanced parts. The gameplay evolves from isolated rig building to large-scale systems management - layer by layer, sector by sector, rig by rig.

SkyRig is a game of systems, experimentation, and resilience. Whether you're fine-tuning a gas chain, designing for survival at 800°C, or forging new materials under impossible pressure, your success is built molecule by molecule.
