About the Game

Something is off...

You wake up on a normal day, except maybe a little late, you feel stressed, you hurry to get to work... but something feels off. All your stuff is where you would expect it to be... except your shoes, which are in the fridge. I mean the games title told you as much, so come on, this is not a spoiler!

So you hurry trough the flat to get all your stuff and leave. Just to wake up again... Only this time its not only the shoes in the fridge which puts you off.

What to expect

This is a silly and hilarious funny achievement hunting game you can finish in one or two evenings. Perfect to switch off your brain. Enjoy the beautiful cozy levels, have a giggle about its absurd humor and try to get all achievements in the multi ended story.

Disclaimer: some screenshots might look spooky. But we promise that there are no jumpscares - its just a little mysterious. 


If you liked "the Stanley Parable" or "A simple job" you are going to have your fun with this one.

Get some nerdy insights how this game came to be

The idea for this game sparked during a game development contest "Brackeys Game Jam" in early 2026. This games prototype achieved a rating of #25 out of  1.4k games. You can still play that version (for free) but it has even less content than the planned demo. So worth a look if you are really nerdy about this game, but there is way more to come.

Purring Chicken Studios is a swiss indie gamedev studio of 5 friends who work part-time. Shoes in the Fridge is our first official project. Our team consists of Saturn91, Alice_sqr, EinsteinsErbe (Programmers), Ziireynak (3D Artist) and FarbeyondMusic (Audio). We are a bunch of part-time indie gamedev with the goal of having fun and having an outlet for our creativity.
