About the Game

Sacred Light: Pyre of Hubris is a real-time strategy RPG inspired by the Ogre Battle series. Taking place in a classical-era fantasy setting, Sacred Light puts players in the shoes of a young military commander attempting to prove himself on the frontiers of the Imperium.

Forge Your Army:

Players will develop, equip, and promote units into over 40 distinct classes, including beasts and animati constructs. Units form the core of every party, each belonging to different classes with unique roles, strengths, and limitations. These units can be equipped with a variety of weapons, armor, and accessories, while class-specific skill trees allow for specialization and access to abilities. Promotion unlocks advanced classes and access to more skill trees, creating the opportunity to design your units in countless ways.

Units make up parties, which are the mobile forces players control on the battlefield. Within parties, unit placement is incredibly important, with more heavily armored units providing protection for their lightly-armored companions. Additionally, specific placement dictates access to certain move sets and abilities that can drastically impact a unit's effectiveness in combat.

Lead Your Troops Into Battle:

Parties maneuver in real time across the battlefield, where terrain and positioning matter. Capture or liberate sites of tactical importance and control key positions on the battlefield, ensuring battles take place on your terms. You can engage enemies head-on, attack from the flanks, or set ambushes by utilizing terrain such as forests and hill-country to mask your encroachment.

Battles take place automatically, with unit class, placement, and stats controlling what happens. Whichever side inflicts the most morale damage, wins. The losing side retreats, losing their position on the battlefield and being stunned for a short period of time.

Campaign in a War-Torn World:

A thousand years prior to the events of Sacred Light, an epic contest was waged against the Shining Kingdoms by the Daemonic Horde. This globe-spanning war, though won by the forces of the Light, led to the destruction of the Shining Kingdoms and widespread devastation. Building upon the remains of their forerunners, new kingdoms and civilizations rose from the ashes and the cycle began anew.

The Imperium, a militaristic theocracy, is the most powerful nation on the continent and is expanding. Attempting to spread their doctrine through both the pen and sword, they have been met with fierce resistance on the outer frontiers and from neighboring kingdoms.

Players will take control of Alagher Lartia, the 3rd son of a famous military family, eager to make a name for himself. Alagher, in his first command role, is sent to the far reaches of the Imperium to lead a band of fresh recruits formed into a legion made up of castoffs from the rest of the army. Derisively titled "The Dregs," these new soldiers must come together under their new commander or risk becoming fodder for the crows.

This game seeks to build upon the legacy of Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen and Ogre Battle 64, two games we cherish. We hope that through our game, we can introduce new players to Ogre Battle and tell our own unique story.
