About the Game

"Before the first word, there is only the wanting to begin."

Rough Draft is a cozy typing game about writing a book — one word at a time.

Under an old oak tree, a boy traces letters in the dust. You are the hands on the keyboard. Every word you type becomes a word he writes: carved into leaves, washed away by rain, burned, buried, gathered again, and finally bound into a book. When a chapter ends, you read his story — and the words glowing on the page are the ones you typed.

A story you write to read

  • 10 chapters, 30 stages — a quiet tale of making something and refusing to stop

  • Your typed words are woven into every chapter's prose

  • Real page-curl transitions — the whole game turns like a book

  • Re-read every finished chapter in the book, page by page

Typing that feels good

  • Lock onto words, fire them home, and watch letters shatter like paper

  • Combos, speed bonuses, star ratings and S-grades for perfect pages

  • Golden words worth double — fading words you must save before the ink dries

  • The Manuscript: your progress is a draft page filling with your own words

Sprint mode

  • A clean, focused typing test — 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds

  • Live WPM, accuracy, and a results page made for sharing

  • Global top 100, friends, and country leaderboards

Made to be calm

  • Warm parchment, ink and terracotta — no timers screaming at you in story mode

  • An original acoustic soundtrack that follows the story's weather

  • Short sessions, gentle difficulty curve, no fail-spirals

Some pages will be lost. Some nights it rains. He keeps writing anyway — and so will you.

The story was finished. The writer was not.
