About the Game

Rotary Knights is a WWI pilot-life tactical RPG in active development.

The demo is a focused, evolving slice of that work. It is designed to show the core sortie loop without presenting the full campaign as already released: plan the flight, fight the mission, fly the withdrawal, and bring the consequences home.

What the Demo Is Built to Show

The demo development build brings together:

  • A Living Front for outbound routes, return routes, fuel, threats, objectives, and recovery fields.
  • Graphical turn-based hex combat with altitude, heading, firing angles, ammunition, damage, and complete mouse and keyboard plotting.
  • Distinct Balloon Bust, Cloud Cover, and Trench Strafing objectives.
  • Aerodrome decisions, pilot condition, aircraft damage, local influence, and a final service record that remembers the sortie.

The Steam demo presents this focused slice as an installed build for Windows and Linux. Development updates identify exactly which features belong to the demo and which describe the wider project.

The Wider Game in Development

Beyond the focused demo slice, Rotary Knights is being built as a branching Royal Flying Corps career from the first reconnaissance flights of 1914 to the Armistice.

The current project baseline includes:

  • A six-act campaign from 1914 to 1918
  • 350+ narrative events and 43+ authored missions
  • 37 historical aircraft across the war
  • Fighter, Reconnaissance, and Bomber specializations with 45 skills
  • Seven aerodromes with supplies, repairs, training, and postings
  • Historical offensives, changing local pressure, fog of war, and squadron consequences
  • Standard mode with manual saving and Ironman mode with irreversible death

These figures describe the wider game under development, not the amount of content available in the focused demo.

Rotary Knights uses terminal typography, painted period scenes, and graphical board-game maps to present the pilot's war as a playable squadron record.
