7 itemsAbout the Game

Fight for humanity in a ruined mechanized future in Rebel Core: Awakens, a fast-paced action platformer inspired by classic jump-n-shoot games of the 16-bit era. Battle across eight levels of a hostile dystopia, taking on each of the 8 Core Robotics in any order of you choose.
A Robot Ruled Dystopia
In a world conquered by machines a lone hero shudders back to life in a long-abandoned, makeshift laboratory. The sole machine to rebel against the anti-human directive, they've spent years hidden away, quietly completing the final subroutines needed to return to operational status.
Leaving behind the once crowded base of the human resistance, this Rebel Core steps out into a scorching wasteland, walking an unknown and dangerous path in search of answers, atonement, and retribution.
3-Way Combat System
Instinctive but nuanced 3-way "Rock-Paper-Scissors" combat pushes you to make quick moment-to-moment decisions as you engage each enemy, balancing between Ranged Attacks, Melee Attacks, and Shield Defenses.
Modern Jump And Shoot Action
Tight & responsive action platforming reminiscent of the 16-bit era is given new life with fully rendered modern visuals. Climb walls, bound across platforms, traverse deadly chasms, and nimbly pursue your foes with side-scrolling gameplay that combines old school skill with modern flair.
8 Bosses, 8 Domains To Conquer
Blast your way through the 8 Core Robotics, each ruling over their own slice of the post-humanity world, in order to reach The Citadel. It's from there that The Council rules over all robot-kind. But is the Citadel their true resting place? Or does something deeper lie beyond?
Level Order Choices That Matter
Each of the Core Robotics you defeat has a ripple effect that can change the world. Anything from minor to major elements of other levels can change, from cosmetic and story changes to significant structural alterations to the levels at large.
Hidden Upgrades And Enhancements
Scour the landscape for hidden upgrades & abilities to improve your capabilities as you take on the Core Robotics. Each boss grants their own unique skill when defeated, so study your opponents closely and use their power against them!
An Original Synth-Metal OST
What is a classic platformer without a killer sound track? An homage to the 16 and 32-bit era, this synth metal OST trades midi for electric guitars and synthesizers, amping up the action with a symphonic synthesis of retro and modern video game music.
A Note On Development
This game is in Early Development by a team of 3 developers working toward a 2-level demo that we can use to secure funding and make this game a reality. The goal of playtesting the game and ultimately releasing a small demo this early into development is to gain the critical support and interest of players like you, that is needed to transition development from a part-time passion project into a full-time development journey.
To get there though we'll need your help! So please, if you're at all interested then Wishlist the game, Follow it here on Steam, and most importantly join the Playtest and give us your feedback to help us move forward!
