About the Game

PHOSPHOR is a precision action-roguelike platformer: fluid, grounded movement, a curated loot loop, and combat where everything telegraphs before it can hurt you. Mastery is execution and economy of motion — never memorization.

You are a reclaimed husk, sent down through a dead cyberpunk under-fab lit only by the phosphor glow of failed machines. Every run, you fall deeper — scavenging weapons off a facility that hasn't finished dying, reading the light for what's about to kill you, and building a loadout that turns the descent inside-out. Then you bank what you earned and go further.

The controller has real feel: coyote time, variable jump height, air control, wall-slides and wall-jumps, and a two-tier dash — a quick dodge from the start, and an earned Super Dash with invincibility frames and afterimages. Then there's the impact: hitstop, screenshake, staggered enemies, kill zooms, and a perfect-dodge slow-mo when a dash eats a bullet. Melee doesn't just swing — it deflects incoming fire. Every hit has weight behind it.

Every danger shows its hand before its hitbox exists. Electric fences pulse on a readable cycle — time the window and walk through clean. Bosses telegraph, phase, and reshape their arenas. One signal per concept: danger, reward, interactable, and element each own a single consistent cue, so a busy screen never lies to you.

Loot is curated, not random noise — a deep pool across six rarities where every weapon carries a distinct mechanic: pierce, chain, ricochet, charge, lifesteal, execute, seeking, and more.

  • Elemental reactions. Fire, toxin, shock, and ice each stack timed effects — but land a second element on a foe already carrying one and it reacts: Thermal Shatter, Superconduct, Combustion, Corrosion.

  • Synergy sets. Collect a set and unlock a playstyle-warping mechanic — attacks ignite, crits execute the weakened, kills refresh your dash.

  • Keystones. Legendary rule-warpers that rewrite your whole arsenal: every shot chains, every shot bounces, every elemental hit always procs.

  • Operatives. A roster of distinct frames — glass-cannon, armored brawler, cyberspell caster, lifesteal revenant — each with its own signature kit and feel.

Death or a victorious ascent returns you to the Foundry, a rendered facility hub where you spend the cores you earned. Permanently unlock gear, tune your starting loadout, climb a forge perk tree, chase long-horizon Standing Orders, and read the Archive as the world's story assembles itself run by run. Then choose how you go back down:

  • Descent — jump straight into a fresh run.

  • Custom run — stack heat modifiers for bigger payouts.

  • Daily & weekly challenges — a shared seed and a local best to beat.

Clear the Core and the descent doesn't stop — it cycles, scaling forever.

Determinism is sacred: the same seed yields the same world, loot, and art forever, in both directions. Descend through 19 hand-tuned biomes, from the Transit Tunnels down to the Core, past roughly two dozen telegraphed enemy types, six elite affixes, and 20 bosses with real patterns and phases. Between the fights you'll find:

  • Shops, repair bays, and free caches to keep you kitted out.

  • Boon altars — powerful gear bound to a lasting curse, with cleansers to lift it if you dare.

  • Mini-events — ambushes, hold-the-line survivals, and sealed vaults that punctuate the descent with bonus loot.
