About the Game

Better to serve in Hell, than rule one more day in the British Government!’ - Milton, Paradise Lost

Young gay poet Matthew just wants to be left alone to write his gothic horror stories. His Father wants to stop his fancies, and so does what any 18th century Father would: he buys Matthew a seat in the Houses of Parliament through bribery. Forced to serve as a Tory MP for the tiny village of Hindon (voting population 3) Matthew’s life becomes Worse Than Hell. Determined to escape, you must help him find any way possible to get kicked out of Parliament. Race against Big Ben to get disinherited and discharged.

Based on an unbelievable true story

Matthew Gregory Lewis was kicked out of the Houses of Parliament in 1796 for writing satanic slasher horror during Parliamentary debates. Now, you can be too!

Replayability and time loop mechanics

There are many quests Matthew can pursue to get kicked out of Parliament but he only has a limited amount of time in the day. Focused on short play sessions, the player can only see a fraction of the story per run through but can then bring useful items into the next run.
