Paperlings

A desktop pet you actually raise. A papercraft creature lives in a little window while you work — and behind its door: a whole town, a 99-form collection, and a family story that outlives every pet.

About the Game

Your desk has a resident now.

PAPERLINGS is a creature-raising game that lives in two places at once. As a companion, it's a tiny window on your desktop — a paper creature that putters, naps, asks for the washroom, and dozes off if you leave the lights out. As a full game, one step through the door unfolds a whole papercraft world: a shop, an arcade, a dojo, a graveyard with its own gentle rituals, and a town square that fills with neighbors you earn one by one.

Raise it like it matters — because it does.

Care decides everything. Your creature's evolutions follow how you actually treated it: mistakes shape one branch, training another, and the door to its final form opens exactly once. You will not see it coming, and you only get to see it once per life.

Some days you just go fishing.

The pond is the quiet half of the game. Cast, watch the bobber breathe, and read what's pulling — because the three tastes are fast, slow, and perfectly still, and the still ones are the legends. Thirteen paper fish, a rod that earns its tiers, and a lure shop that will happily take your afternoon.

Battles with real stakes.

Wild roads, weekly street brackets, and moves your creature learns the hard way. Every fight unfolds a little pop-up paper theater. Lose a real one and your pet spends two days in bed — the world scales to how hard you have actually trained, not to a number on a screen.

And once a month, a title changes paws.

The cup runs a real bracket in the arena, and the winner is crowned on a podium in front of the whole town. Your neighbors turn up. The confetti is hand-cut. It is the loudest the paper ever gets.

A world that remembers.

When the day ends you tuck it into bed, the night judges you both, and the morning makes it one day older. Pets grow old. Pets die. Their stones stand in the graveyard, their stories go into the family chronicle, and their descendants inherit what you built.

  • 10 lineages, 99 forms — every creature you meet gets sketched into the collection; every one you raise gets inked forever. One lineage is hidden behind a rumor nobody will explain to you.
  • 21 neighbors to recruit — a nurse who halves your medicine, a gossip whose notebook drips one clue a day, a priest who lights candles on death anniversaries, a rival who is always exactly a little stronger than you.
  • A living calendar — market days, sparring jams, festival nights, and penciled-in wonders: mushroom blooms, wild swarms, shooting stars to wish on.
  • Generations — board pets at the daycare, choose the next egg, and watch legacy tiers, inherited colorways, and family heirlooms accumulate across lives.
  • Somewhere below the town — a door you are not ready for yet, and a keeper on the other side of it who teaches exactly one lesson.
  • Handmade paper everything — every sprite is a hand-cut paper scrap that boils and wobbles; every menu is a torn page. English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese, all the way through.

Play it in the corner of your screen. Grieve it like a real one.
