About the Game

Orange Island is a new single-player 8-bit action-adventure platformer game being developed by Ted Sterchi. This game is being carefully developed to be a completely authentic retro experience, fully created under the graphic and audio specifications of the NES. In fact, we're even creating a homebrew NES port!

  • 6+ hours of gameplay with vast areas built for non-linear exploration
  • A touching and timely story told via cutscenes and conversations
  • Five playable characters with individual magical abilities and stats
  • 8-bit graphics, chiptune audio, and gameplay authentic to the NES
  • A unique pastel pixel art style
  • Engaging puzzles with retro side-scrolling platformer mechanics
  • Side-quests and activities to complete in numerous towns, inns, and shops
  • No microtransactions, loot boxes, or gambling nonsense
  • "Shoot-em-up” sequences with classic spaceship combat
  • Guest compositions from Hiroki Kikuta, Soyo Oka, Lena Raine, and more! 🎵
