THE ICE IS NOT JUST ICE.
Numb Digger is a dark allegorical digging game about the Black American experience: being named by systems that do not know you, owing institutions you cannot reason with, and trying to hold onto yourself in a world that treats whiteness as neutral and everyone else as labor.
The title is not a wink nor a dog whistle. The system calls you a Numb Digger because it is easier to count a body than know a person.
Go below. Cut through impossible ice. Pick the right tool. Read the seam. Watch your warmth, air, stamina, and numbness. Bring up bodies, records, objects, lies, proof...whatever the cold has been keeping.
Then come back to camp.
Sell what you have to sell. Keep what you cannot bear to lose. Give things back to the people they belong to. Build trust. Unlock new hands, new tools, new routes, and new ways to survive. The people at the fire are not flavor text. They remember what you brought up, what you left behind, and who you chose to stand beside.
The shaft gets deeper. The debt gets meaner. The paperwork gets stranger.
But the camp can become something other than a waiting room for the next descent.
You are not here to conquer the bore.
You are here to reclaim your identity from the record.
Key Features
Dig deliberate routes through layered, reactive ice. The right tool changes the cut; the wrong one wastes the body and wakes the shaft.
Manage warmth, stamina, air, numbness, load, light, supplies, rope, and the climb home. Numbness is not relief. It is the cold winning quietly.
Bring back more than resources: bodies, records, letters, relics, anomalies, and proof the camp was never meant to find.
Build a life at the fire. Recruit crew, earn their trust, unlock tools and routes, treat wounds, pay debt, and decide which promises matter before the next line opens.
Make every return count. Sell what you must. Keep what matters. Give evidence back to the people it belongs to. The camp remembers.
Push deeper for stranger finds, bigger hauls, and harder truths—or turn back before the shaft takes more than it gives.
Explore a grave, painterly world of cold bureaucracy, haunted expeditions, and people refusing to become the category written beside their name.
