About the Game

In Novis, death doesn’t always mean the end. Sometimes it becomes a way to learn more—about enemies, items, characters, and the very structure of Earth-01.

There is no permanent progression between runs. When you die, you lose your current Avatar, but you retain what matters most: information. Data on enemies you’ve encountered, items, abilities you’ve learned, and characters can be the key to a more successful next run.

Combat System

Novis features a turn-based combat system built around four basic actions: attack, ability, item, and spell. Combine them, build your own setup, and adapt your playstyle to the situation.

However, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution here. A combo that works perfectly in one area may prove useless later on against new types of enemies. To progress, you’ll need not only to strengthen your Avatar but also to understand who you’ll be fighting.

Characters and Information

As you explore, you’ll encounter the inhabitants of Earth-01. Conversations with them can yield useful items, information about this world, and hints that may help in future runs.

But your origins must remain a secret. Umbra automatically filters the operator’s responses, preventing any details of the operation from being revealed. To the inhabitants of Earth-01, you are not a person from another reality, but a traveler who has come from a distant corner of the kingdom.

After your death, they will not remember past encounters. You, however, will. And this knowledge may change the course of their stories.

Main Cycle

Each run is a limited-raids expedition. Explore accessible areas, collect items, develop your Avatar, battle hostile creatures, interact with the inhabitants, and gradually build up your knowledge of the world.

You cannot remain in the starting locations indefinitely. Your connection to your Avatar is unstable, and the corporation demands that you press on. The sooner you decide to venture beyond your usual route, the greater the risk—but the more stable your connection will become, making battles easier for you.

Your main advantage isn’t the strength you retain after death, but the information you carry with you.
