About the Game

■ Overview

The Night Duty Log is a short horror adventure set in a Showa-era Japanese school.
You play as a teacher left alone in the school at night, investigating strange occurrences in a silent, empty building.

Before long, something that was never written in the log begins to appear.

■ Story

Autumn, 1981
Yamasato Elementary School, Chiba Prefecture

A teacher assigned to night duty patrols the school while recording entries in a logbook.
However, subtle irregularities begin to creep into what should be a normal routine.

Records that keep increasing.
Footsteps that vanish.
Classrooms that should be empty.

—And yet, the log must still be written.

■ Gameplay

  • Choice-Driven Horror Experience

  • A story that changes as you read through the log

  • Multiple endings based on your choices

  • A compact experience playable in a short time (approx. 30–45 minutes)

■ Features

  • An eerie atmosphere inspired by Showa-era Japanese schools

  • Retro horror visuals created with pixel art

  • Psychological horror driven by sound and silence

  • A slow-building sense of dread rather than sudden jump scares

  • Created by a developer with firsthand experience of late Showa-era Japanese schools

  • Tested on Steam Deck

*Playable using the touchpad (mouse input)

  • Regarding Steam Deck support, we will classify the game as Playable rather than fully supported.

While playing, there are rare occasions where choice text may not display completely, or certain UI elements may fail to appear. On the developer's Steam Deck, moving the left analog stick caused the missing text or UI elements to reappear.

The game remains playable; however, because this issue requires a specific workaround under certain conditions, we have decided to classify Steam Deck compatibility as Playable.
