The story is set in Zhitebsk, a city of contrast, where the commonplace, down-to-earth Central Russian town meets the mystical and the metaphysical, and where the ridiculous meets the horrendous.
An unnamed mob in the 1990s is mourning over their boss’ death. They are in great sorrow, not sure what should they do now without him. However, a necromancer for the establishment and an old acquaintance of theirs, Mr.Besolyubov, doesn’t seem to accept that. He offers to do his job and bring the boss back from the dead, but the mob would have to help.
… That’s where the utter nightmare and the incredulous parade of surreal idiocy begin in the funerary train.
