About the Game

Note: MPQ is delayed to 2026 while I turn it into a sick MMORPG

Monster Pod Quest is a first-of-its-kind creature collector MMORPG with infinitely many randomly generated creatures, each completely unique.

All the artists whose pixel art was used for training are credited in the game, and all the art was either purchased or freely available under a creative commons license (more details below).

Gameplay

Monster Pod Quest is a party-based creature collecting RPG, but with unlimited possibilities for the monsters you may encounter and create.

  • Create, train and customise your party of unique monsters.

  • Gather the meat and bones of your enemies to grow new allies in pods.

  • Breed new powerful species.

  • Journey across procedurally generated worlds to challenge the bosses of the land.

  • Defeat enemies in strategic turn-based party battles, using each monster's special moves.

  • Every playthrough is unique: monsters, tiles, moves, quests, and the map are all procedurally generated.

  • Show off and trade your creatures online.

About the AI

  • All the pixel art training data was either free to use commercially (Creative Commons license), or assets which I bought. A huge thank you to all the artists involved - see in-game credits for names.

  • MPQ is not about replacing human art with AI-made images - it is a new type of game entirely, with creatures and worlds generated during gameplay based on player choices. This isn't possible without AI, and has not been done before.

  • The images are generated on your computer while you play, so you will need a decent (but not necessarily high-end) GPU or generation will be slow.
