MOKI - The Escape

A gentle awakening, surrounded by nature and warm light. At first glance, the surroundings seem peaceful. However, for the creature with the distinctive ears and bushy tail, this world is a mystery. All memory has vanished, only a single word remains: Moki.

On the journey through this world, Moki encounters charming, sometimes quirky and whimsical inhabitants whose fates touch the heart. But this idyll is deceptive. Subtle signs indicate that something entirely different slumbers behind the beautiful facade – and the search for answers soon becomes a flight into the unknown.

Gameplay Mechanics & Distinctive Features

• The Gift of the Streak:
  A fascinating, inner-slumbering power. Guided by pure instinct, Moki slows down the flow of time to overcome short distances in the blink of an eye (short-range teleportation). The unique twist: Living foliage such as plants or energetic barriers can be effortlessly streaked through. Only the lifeless cold of solid stone or metal remains an impenetrable obstacle.

• The Unfolding of the Streak:
  The innate gift unfolds with every step Moki takes in this world. But that is only the beginning of a much greater awakening: While streaking, Moki's power is able to interweave so deeply with the fabric of the world that its own presence can be swapped with that of inanimate objects or even other creatures, should the situation require it. A tactical interplay that reveals entirely new paths and fundamentally transforms the nature of the puzzles.

• Intuition over Might:
  Moki is agile yet deeply peaceful. Instead of using brute force, Moki uses the surroundings as a complex puzzle: A hazardous environment, hostile creatures, and even powerful bosses are cleverly influenced and exploited to one's own advantage. By subtly reading the world's fabric, even insurmountable obstacles can be cleared out of the way. A game of observation and intuition that turns every challenge into a clever riddle.

• Unique Characters:
  Encounter a cast of partly quirky and whimsical creatures. Each of these beings brings its very own personality and emotional story.

• Moki's Echo:
  Those who have forgotten everything must search deep within themselves for answers. Moki's Echo is the voice of one's own subconscious that awakens in moments of doubt. As an inner companion, it brings faded certainties back to the surface. An intuitive guide that lights up when the world's hurdles seem insurmountable and the path vanishes in the fog.

Behind the Scenes

MOKI - The Escape is the official debut work of the studio VAMPIRE - Digital Media and stems from the ambitious vision of a solo indie developer.

However, a major part of the atmosphere is shaped by the musician Jakob Wiersch, who composed the atmospheric soundtrack exclusively for the game, bringing Moki's journey to life acoustically.
