About the Game

Mental: The Dark Night is a horror and exploration game powered by Unreal Engine 5.

Step into the role of an employee of a company dedicated to researching paranormal events, called Mental. You will have your own office, with the possibility of even creating your own living space within Mental’s facilities.

  • The main idea of Mental: The Dark Night is to provide you with an immersive visual and audio experience, designed to make you feel as realistic as possible while going through psychological adventures. New stories and new exploration maps will be released regularly, each offering different experiences, all centered around psychological horror.

  • Mental features different stories and exploration maps, referred to as contracts. At headquarters, you’ll find the planning room with several monitors, including the main monitor and another that provides access to a museum. These monitors allow you to access Mental’s data, your personal information, and available modes. Each monitor runs its own operating system, which will receive updates over time.

  • The headquarters is the central hub, where you can access training, available modes, and your employee information. Over time, you’ll see changes in the headquarters, as it gets updated just like all contracts.

  • Each time you complete a contract, you will level up. Your level can be viewed at headquarters on a separate monitor. Levels are used to unlock more contracts and additional items.

  • Each map contains hidden rewards and collectibles. Try to obtain them to store at headquarters and to unlock Steam Achievements.

  • Puzzle Solving: Throughout your adventure, in every contract you choose, you will encounter puzzles that must be solved to progress. These range from simple riddles to more complex challenges requiring observation and logic.

  • Exploration: Players must explore different environments such as abandoned houses, hospitals, and other dark and mysterious places. Exploration is key to progressing through the stories.

  • Resource Management: You’ll need to carefully manage your resources, such as batteries for your flashlight or video camera, along with other useful items you find along the way.

  • Stealth and Evasion: Facing threats directly is not always the best choice. Often, you’ll need to use stealth to avoid being detected by paranormal entities and other dangers.

  • Environmental Interaction: You can interact with various objects in the environment to gather information, unlock new areas, or trigger specific events.
