About the Game

(IF) YOU WERE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT ON STEAM - YOU FOUND IT

Mental Salvo is top down adventure art game with light RPG elements. It's meant to be an aesthetic and emotional experience, a bit of a sandbox. Something that will tickle your brain in various ways, making you search for meaning where there is none...or is there?

You'll shoot words out of a gun, which you replenish by talking to entities. You'll equip cards that will make you meet a lot of opinionated cats, run faster, or change the attitudes of entities you encounter.

You can spend lots of time walking and interacting and keep stumbling upon new things. It is procedurally generated and very heavily so - you can have radically different playthroughs every time you come back to the game. It generates things based on even the time of day, so no one, not even I as the dev, knows what you'll stumble upon! Follow your curiosity.

There is only one rule, and that is that you need enough experience to venture out far where perhaps eventually, you'll find something...special.

You can run in any direction and talk at any time to almost anything. Many entities have the ability to speak back to you dynamically. And even if there is nothing in sight...something might still be hearing you, and it might even respond.

Perhaps you'll find out if Androids dream of electric sheep?

(MAY INCLUDE) FEATURES

  • First of all, you can explode your head (Your mental salvo). Yes, really. This resets the world in some way..

  • The world is literally infinite. You walk the white plains like a blank canvas upon which content is painted procedurally. Maybe if you walk far enough, just far enough, you'll find something. But to walk far, you need experience. Light RPG elements, remember?

  • You get to meet many interesting and strange entities, like talking couches and smoking fish.

  • You can find cards you can equip, which affect the world or your playthrough, such as what spawns, attitudes of entities, their knowledge or your run speed.

  • Filled with easter eggs. In fact, the entire game can be considered easter egg.

(APPARENTLY) THIS BELONGS TO A SERIES

This is the first game in a series called the "Figmental Series" by imaginini, an indie studio with a focus is on experimenting with game design and creating novel experiences. The Figmental Series in particular, is about meaning, dreams, consciousness and well, all things mental.
