The Medo do Escuro (Fear of the Dark) Game seeks in an immersive way to explore the fear of darkness (nyctophobia) from which many children and adults suffer. The idea is to show situations imagined by those who suffer from this phobia, such as, for example, the fear of the unknown, of being attacked by a “bogeyman”, by ghosts or monsters. For this, the title takes inspiration from horror movies and games, such as Limbo, Inside and Little Nightmares.
In Medo do Escuro (Fear of the Dark), you follow Bianca, a 6-year-old girl who needs to explore a haunted house on a journey to rescue her stuffed bunny named Apep. The problem is that the house is poorly lit and little Bianca suffers from nyctophobia. Thus, she must overcome her fears to rescue her mate.
Fear of the Dark features a 2D Action/Adventure platformer mechanic with a dark aesthetic. Along the way you must explore platforms, secret passages, solve puzzles and face off against shadow monsters and ghosts with your flashlight. The art style favors colors and characters, which have cartoon art, which should please younger players.
