About the Game

Hey future Game Breaker! It's me, the developer

The time has finally come to release the demo I've been working on for a while. This is my first game release, so I'm hoping it goes well. If you find something weird (that shouldn't be weird), send feedback through the in-game forms or join the Discord.

I hope you enjoy it. Send suggestions, share it with everyone you know, and if you find something broken, tell me. If you like it, smash that wishlist button. It's literally the most powerful thing one player can do to help a solo dev like me. Plus you'll get a ping when something cool drops.

Now go break my game like it's meant to be broken.

Welcome to the Chaos

You're not the chosen one. Not the hero with a tragic backstory. Not special anything. Just an average wizard who showed up and said "how hard can it be?". And somehow they still picked you for the task.

Battle hordes of enemies and epic bosses in this unique take on a bullet-heaven roguelite where the faster you kill, the stronger you become. Gather relics and choose the abilities that augment your playstyle, creating ridiculously powerful synergies. Transcend the definition of bullet heaven! Cover the whole zone with auras that kill enemies as they spawn! Summon a flurry of weapons to do your bidding!

Grow and grow and grow in power till you break the world itself!

Combat - Go strong, go quick

The combat in Master of Chaos revolves around two main mechanics: combos and chainable counterattacks.

Unlike the build-conditional mechanics found in several bullet-heaven games, the combo in Master of Chaos is always active, granting you more bonuses the bigger the combo grows. How high can you get? There have been rumors of combos reaching tens of thousands...

Supporting the combo mechanic is the ability to counterattack, protecting yourself from damage while damaging the enemy in turn. Every time you successfully counterattack, you can repeat the action immediately! Nothing frustrates the monsters quite as much as flashing through their ranks, leaving a trail of the dead in your wake while you pass unscathed.

Upgrades - Strategy and skill triumph over luck

Master of Chaos takes the synergy between abilities to a whole new level. Everything affects everything, and the tiniest change could reshape the whole build. Add an ability, and one projectile becomes three. Add another, and they're spinning in wild spirals. Add a third, that by itself wouldn't have made a difference, and you have a solid field of projectiles obliterating everything in their path.

Abilities are gained by acquiring relics, whether from loot boxes via quests, minibosses or regular enemies, or by crafting or buying from shops. The loot boxes might at first glance appear random, but as with everything in the game, skill pays off. It is up to you when the reels of relic choices stop spinning. Yours to decide which relic to aim for, or whether you forego the small rewards and pursue the jackpot for a big payout.

Unleash Chaos on the Battlefield

As an alternative way to win, Master of Chaos features a unique mechanic for the truly dedicated gamebreaker. Stack enough upgrades, chain enough kills, push your combo high enough and the game itself will start to buckle under the weight of your power. Shadows disappear, draw distances shrink, resolution crumbles, until there is nothing left. At that point, the game itself has no choice but to admit defeat and hand you the victory.

Do you have what it takes to break the game and claim the title of the true Master of Chaos?
