About the Game

About This Game

malware.exe is a single-player incremental game where you play as a virus infecting a digital filesystem. Your goal is simple: destroy files, get bytes to feed to the virus, grow more powerful until you have destroyed every file in the system.

How It Works

You control a breaker that slowly hits and destroys files which bytes are fed to the virus.
The more files your destroy the more bytes you get.
The more bytes you get the more upgrades you get.
The more upgrades you get the different types of files you unlock to destroy which will earn you more bytes.

Progression & Upgrades

The upgrade system is laid out as a circuit-board tech tree — a closed clockwise loop with PCB-style diagonal traces and animated data pulses flowing between nodes.
Upgrades get progressively more expensive,
As you advance through tiers, the visual identity of your virus evolves with new colour progressions and shader effects.

Milestones & The Endgame

Progression is structured around milestone events that mark major corruption thresholds. Each milestone triggers a fanfare and unlocks the next phase of infection. A complete run takes a couple hours of active play, or less.

A Demo Build Is Available

A free demo lets you experience the early progression loop with a subset of the upgrade tree before purchasing.
