About the Game

Raise the sails. Race your crew home.

Mad Boarding is a turn-based pirate board game for 2–4 players. On a 15×15 sea you lead a clan from port to inlet: roll two dice each turn, choose which tokens spend them, and decide when to strike—or when to wait.

Land on a rival and send them overboard. Ports are safe. Open water is not. Storms and sea events rewrite the board mid-match. Four asymmetric clans change how every race feels.

How a match plays

  • Win — Be first to bring all of your tokens home.

  • Decide every roll — Two dice, your tokens, your order. Speed, safety, and capture pressure compete every turn.

  • Capture — Step on an enemy token and return it to port. Block routes. Force bad choices.

  • The Six — A six opens special plays: leave port, ransom a captured token, or push a bold line. Combos decide races.

  • Sea events — Fog, storms, and worse hit mid-game. Adapt the plan—or sink with it.

Four clans, four ways to win

  • Icy Varangians — Defence. Survive a hit that would send others home, then raise a shield rivals cannot pass.

  • Tide Shadows — Speed. Extra steps on the move and a slip across the sea to reappear elsewhere.

  • Sand Sharks — Aggression. Bonus forward speed and a sandstorm that knocks nearby rivals off course.

  • Fangs of Dusk — Control. Scout rival ports and lay traps that throw intruders back.

Each clan has a passive ability and one powerful active once per match. Pick a captain that matches your plan—not just your colour.

Play how you want

  • Solo vs bots — Learn the rules, test clans, chase win rate. Four AI personalities, from forgiving to ruthless.

  • Online multiplayer — Host a Steam lobby and invite friends. 2–4 human players; empty seats can be filled by bots.

Built to stay readable under pressure

Routes, captures, and board state stay clear at a glance. An in-game wiki covers the full rules. Matches are tense, not endless—most finish in a focused session you can play in one sitting.
