About the Game

MAD: Mutually Assured Destruction is a modern 3D reimagining of the turn-based artillery duels you grew up with, rebuilt for up to 8 players across 4 teams, with a Cold War-era arsenal and beyond, ten tiers of AI, a full campaign, and online crossplay across VR and flatscreen, plus local hotseat.

Plant your base. Read the wind. Lob a tactical missile, a cluster bomb, or a nuke across the map and watch the whole table fire at once. Last base standing wins.

Play in VR or on a standard monitor — no headset required. Full crossplay between both.

KEY FEATURES

  • Up to 8 players, 4 teams - Host or join online games with friends, gather a crowd on one PC in pass-and-play hotseat, or mix both. Free-for-all or team up for the multiplayer mayhem this genre was made for.

  • Play it your way - Fire simultaneously for chaotic all-at-once barrages, or go sequential and classic turn-based for the methodical duel. The match plays how you want it to.

  • A real arsenal - Eleven distinct weapons drawn from Cold War-era ordnance and beyond: tactical missiles, bunker busters, bouncing bombs, cluster munitions, EMPs, mortars, cannons, the never-fires-the-same-way Crazy Ivan, and of course, nukes... and one that hits harder still. Fire single shots or unleash cinematic salvos that fill the sky with rocket trails.

  • Offense beyond the warhead - Pop chaff over an enemy to scramble their defenses while your real barrage closes in, or send in orbiting drones to strafe with guns and missiles.

  • Buy your defenses - It's not all offense. Invest in CIWS, point defense, flak to swat down drones, and permanent bunkers. Intercept incoming fire before it lands.

  • Play together, any setup - Everyone jumps in from their own PC over Steam, in VR or on a monitor, and any flatscreen player can pass the controller to friends on the couch beside them. Up to 8 players, mixed however you like - headsets, monitors, and hotseat all in one match.

  • 8 distinct battlefields - Rolling grasslands, rocky foothills, alpine knife-edge mountains, wind-blown dunes, a tropical island, low-ceilinged caverns that cap your firing arc, a lava-bleeding volcano, and fortress pillars floating above an endless cloud sea where you can't see where your misses land. Each one rewrites the fight.

  • A battlefield that remembers - Shots leave craters across the terrain - track your fire, read the aftermath. The battlefield wears your war as it goes.

  • Read the battlefield - Open maps give clean line-of-sight; mountains and caverns force you to master arc and power. Dial in map size, wind strength, and wind behavior (steady, breezy, or chaotic) to set your challenge.

  • Day / Night / NVG - Fight under a blazing sun, a starlit sky, or through the green wash of night vision.

  • Campaign mode - Climb from boot camp to five-star Battlefield Commander, learning every tool in the arsenal and earning medals along the way.

  • Ten tiers of AI - From clueless recruit to terrifyingly precise, with AI that scales aim, weapon IQ, and tactics. Train up, then test yourself.

  • Deep stats - Service records, war-room analytics, performance trends, per-weapon breakdowns, win streaks, and net war-chest profit. Track every shot.

A NOTE ON CROSSPLAY SETUPS

Each VR player needs their own PC - a headset can't also run a separate flatscreen seat at the same time. A single flatscreen PC, on the other hand, can host any number of pass-and-play hotseat players, up to the 8-player match cap. Check the System Requirements before you plan game night.
