About the Game

KAON: Fragmented Core is a 2D action-platformer with a metroidvania feel.

You play as Kaon, an android awakened in a world where no one lives anymore, neither humans nor animals. Mostly what’s left is plants, ruins, and robots, a good chunk of them turned hostile. Your goal: find the Fragmented Cores and set human and animal life back on the right track.

We take you through factories overgrown with vegetation, rotten labs, and other odd places where the past shows up in bits and pieces.

Combat

Chain attacks, dodge at the right moment, adapt to whatever the machines throw at you. You don’t need to master everything right away, but it won’t go easy on you either.

Visuals

We tried to build our own art direction: a world where nature takes back the rust, robots still hanging around, and a Kaon we wanted recognizable the moment he shows up on screen.

Upgrades

As you progress, Kaon picks up modules that open up new options: move around better, reach areas you couldn’t get to at first, break through a defense, or unlock a path. Nothing changes how he looks, it just expands what he can do. That’s also what gives it the metroidvania side of things: a blocked door at the start might be reachable later on.

Puzzles

It’s not all combat. There’s stuff to figure out to move forward: push crates, flip levers in the right order, get past traps, that kind of thing. Nothing groundbreaking, but it breaks up the pace and makes you look around a room before rushing in headfirst.

The world

You’ll run into , a chatty robot companion, and Guardians of the Fragmented Cores standing in your way. Good luck.
