About the Game

You just dissociated from reality...

Unfortunately, the imaginary world you've landed in is as disturbed as your mental state. Gather your courage and confront your darkest thoughts in this 8-bit psychological horror RPG.

True retro compatibility

Innerwhy was built to run on the Game Boy Color. Every technical limitation has been embraced: pixel art, chiptune soundtrack, limited storage… it’s all part of the experience.

Everyone is feeling bad...

In this retro setting, you play as Manda, a young woman trapped in a crumbling imaginary world. Here, everyone is losing their mind: mushrooms fall into despair, pumpkins get angry, and goblins are fed up with life.

Dynamic turn-based battles

Save these troubled souls by battling them in turn-based combat powered by your emotions. Stay alert and dodge their negative vibes in real-time during Bullet Hell-style minigames.

Meta-progression

You will die. Probably more than once. But don’t worry, a meta-progression system will make you stronger with each attempt.

Randomly generated worlds

Plus, randomly generated worlds ensure each playthrough offers a fresh adventure.
