MYSTERY

Discover what lies behind the arrivial of the comet.

Of the great mortality and famine that befell Florence and its surroundings, and of a comet that appeared.

In the year 1348, at the end of March, a comet appeared in the sky toward the east, at the end of the sign of Virgo and the beginning of Libra—both human signs, signifying great affliction and death upon human bodies, as we shall say hereafter. The comet itself lasted only a few days, but many evils followed its ominous signs, especially upon our city of Florence.

Soon after, a great mortality began, such that those who fell ill scarcely survived. More than a sixth of the citizens died, and many were the best and most beloved—both men and women. No family was spared, with two, three, or more members perishing. The plague lasted until the coming winter.

(Giovanni Villani, Nuova Cronica. Florence, 1348)

DISCLAIMER

Ignis Dei was originally made for the Spaghetti Horror 2025 Game Jam, as such it is a short game aimed to entertain you for about 30 minutes.

Some improvements have been made for the Steam release but you might encounters bugs and some parts of the game might appear unfinished due to the short development time.

We hope you will enjoy the experience nonetheless.
