Experience the journey of Dorothy Heartwell, a friendly guidance counselor on the autistic spectrum who is sure to win over hearts and minds. Awakening at the bottom of a well with faint memories of her past, it's up to Dorothy to find her way home despite the seemingly insurmountable odds against her. Explore interconnected dungeons and diverse environments in the land of Ellifoftria, where deadly beasts and machines remain from a futuristic war in the distant past. Fight challenging but rewarding boss battles, battle cute but deadly enemies, meet endearing characters, and unravel the mysteries of Dorothy's past and the war in Ellifoftria in this epic, story-rich tale!

Game Features

  • Defeat colorful enemies and challenging bosses to level-up the stats of your player, melee weapons, and ranged weapons.

  • Equip a variety of melee and ranged weapons, each with their own unique special skills to unlock. These special skills require multiple levels to unlock and provide powerful benefits that are worth the wait!

  • Discover ancient artifacts that provide permanent passive upgrades such as additional healing charges, improved ammo regeneration, and more!

  • Manage your stamina and ammo as you explore the war-torn land of Ellifoftria. Because stamina and ammo regenerates over time, you're free to discover the combination of melee and ranged combat that works best for you!

  • Jump, dash, and sprint your way through vast, metroidvania-style dungeons with non-linear level design.

  • Grow your wisdom to earn more EXP by talking to colorful NPCs and uncovering hidden lore bits. Your wisdom level determines how much EXP you earn from defeating enemies, so more wisdom = more EXP!
  • Choose your own adventure by exploring multiple branching paths and making key decisions that impact the game's ending.
  • Meet cute, wholesome characters that are brought to life by adorable pixel art inspired by RPGs from the 1990s.

  • Play as an idealistic female protagonist in a dystopian, story driven experience with rich world-building, deep characters, and a narrative affected by the choices you make along the way.

About the Game's Development

Heartwell is being developed entirely by one person using Clickteam Fusion 2.5. The demo took 3 years to make, and the rest of the game is currently being developed. The full game is expected to be released sometime in the years ahead.
