Immerse yourself in over 1000 years of Hamburg's history and experience the beginnings of the city in 1024! The 'Neue Burg' - the nucleus of Hamburg's early 'New Town' - has been reconstructed in great detail in collaboration with archaeologists. This immersive Virtual Reality experience offers 22 interactive stations that invite you to discover and understand the history of Hamburg.
Climb the castle walls and ship masts, jump back in time and compare then and now, collect parts of a painting to create a portrait of the Duke of the castle and explore models that visualize the 1000-year urban development of this place. You can follow the fully audio-guided tour or explore the entire area freely.
'Hamburg: Neue Burg VR' was developed as part of a PhD project and aims to use the potential of VR to convey history in a playful way.
VR hardware necessary! Tested on HTC Vive Pro, Valve Index, Oculus Quest 2 & Pico 4
