Yuel is the rightful king of Verren, but he has no chance to claim the throne. His father's once-loyal advisor, Salim, has been plotting against Yuel in the shadows for years, and once Yuel's father dies, Salim swoops in to claim the throne for himself.
Left with no choice but to flee for his life, Yuel escapes into the countryside with his father's former right-hand man, Armand. Armand has a plan to ensure Yuel's safety even as civil war rages in the capital, but it's a risky one.
While the king's men try to reclaim the throne from Salim's grasp, Yuel will live in the small village of Aylesbury, hundreds of miles away from the fighting. Once in Aylesbury, Yuel must live in its abbey, dress as a nun, and... pretend to be a woman?
Armand's plan is a convoluted one, and things are made more complex still when Yuel runs into the local priest, Father Malek. Why does he look so familiar, and why is he so interested in Yuel? Can this father really be trusted, and what, exactly, is he plotting?
