Through the Portal

After a late night drinking, Simon Haynes finds himself taking an accidental one-way taxi ride into Carcosa, the central city of the Dreamlands. People and creatures from various worlds reside in Carcosa, and Simon is almost immediately invited to cults and asked for favors as a newcomer. After getting his bearings, he looks down to find himself clutching onto a heavy magical tome: the Necronomicon.

Simon wakes up next to a portal protected by a powerful magical seal.

The Necronomicon

The Necronomicon is the summation of Simon’s inventory, blessing trees (skill trees), an index describing various people, places, and things Simon has encountered, and more.

Through the Necronomicon’s power, Simon is able to channel otherworldly forces to his advantage, and it isn’t long before this becomes necessary.

Beyond Lake Hali

On the other side of Lake Hali lay nine ever-shifting regions of struggling wildlife, eldritch horrors, and mysterious ruins. Powers governing each region maintain walls between them, and Simon soon finds himself forced to challenge these powers in search of freedom.

Gaining powerful abilities might let you take on multiple monstrosities at once.

Then again, sometimes running is the best option...

The Residents of Carcosa

To gain the powers and equipment he needs, Simon seeks the assistance of Carcosian residents. Joining cults allows Simon to channel the power of that cult’s god through blessings, Guild commissions grant Simon a steady income, and by talking to various residents Simon finds shops at which he can purchase new equipment.

The Story has only Just Begun

Will Simon find a way to escape, or will he be forever trapped in the Dreamlands? The rest is up to you.

Good luck!
