About the Game

Somewhere above you, Gideon Dunne-Wright is retiring. He isn't naming a successor. He's making them fight for it.

Downer Management is a bureaucratic auto-battler about clawing up a corporate succession contest one hostile building at a time — as a boss you build, at the head of a department that keeps dying. You got the last legitimate slot in the running. Your rival didn't get one, snuck in anyway, and management admired the initiative. Now it's a climb, and the elevator only goes up.

YOU ARE THE BOSS

Design your director from the ground up — department, discipline, crest, signature style. Your boss isn't a menu screen; they're a unit. Grow their stats, teach them moves, and call them onto the floor mid-fight to rip a losing turn back. Everything you do goes on their record.

3v3 AUTO-BATTLES, MANUALLY MEDDLED

Three employees to a line — Top hits, Bottom heals, Middle holds. The fights resolve themselves; winning them doesn't. Promote and demote to swap the rows mid-battle, spend Authority on directives, and micromanage your boss into the brawl. Benched staff project passives onto the active line.
Permadeath is real. A casualty is gone — the graveyard keeps the name, and the survivors remember.

THE SUCCESSION CONTEST

Every building is a subsidiary. Every floor is a filter. Every department head is a contender for the same chair you want. Beat them, take their territory, and climb toward Gideon and his final test. A recurring rival — the one who snuck in — climbs right alongside you, and remembers every time you cross paths.

NEW: WEEKEND VIGILANTE

Monday to Friday you run a department. What your boss does on the weekend is between them and the city. Clear a building, bank a weekend: spend Saturday prepping — train, gear up, work your informants — then watch Sunday play out as a broadcast, your boss against whatever the week sent. Win, and it all carries back to the office Monday morning. Free update, included.

RUN THE WHOLE OFFICE

Hire from a shifting applicant pool where every candidate has stats, a role, traits, procedural portrait art, and a small exhausted history. Train them, author your department's identity — crest, theme, motto — hold a Fireside Chat, decorate the desk, and clock into the Break Room between climbs.

YOUR CHAT RUNS HR

Streaming? Twitch Mode wires your audience straight into the department — chat hires, votes on directives, cheers, and call-ins. Day one, no add-ons.

THE FINE PRINT

No microtransactions. No live service. A complete singleplayer game in a single filing. File it once. File it right.
