Distant Isles is a party-based, turn-based roguelike and role-playing game. Building a reliable and loyal party, you will explore procedurally-generated islands, seeking out adventure, finding hidden shrines and fighting all manner of creatures.
However, be careful not to run out of resilience or gain injuries - your adventure can rapidly descend into chaos and defeat.
Each island contains a wealth of secrets, treasures and dangers. Shrines contain valuable treasures, but will also set off dangerous traps - hopefully your party can out run fire. Caves can lead you across the island or contain monsters; lookouts can show you new locations (just be careful not to fall down and break a bone!)
Gather a party of up to four adventurers and venture forth! Each party member has their own unique set of traits and quirks, allowing them to navigate dangerous situations (and be a burden in others). Find or purchase skill books to train and customise each party member, allowing you to build your perfect crew.
Each party member can equip three items - a weapon, clothing and a trinket - allowing for even more customisation and specialisation.
To ensure your survival, you'll need to forage, hunt, trade and seek out treasure to maintain your resilience. Resilience represents your party's ability to keep travelling and exploring. Each step uses resilience, and traversing extreme or rough terrain will use more. Eating foods and resting will increase your resilience, allowing you to travel deeper into each island. However, make sure not to run out of resilience - disease could set in and bad events may happen.
